Frequently asked questions
Grouped by what people are actually worried about before they ring.
Cost and call-outs
What does it cost to get you out?
It is $89 for a business-hours call-out, which covers travel and the first thirty minutes on site, and it comes off the invoice when the work goes ahead. After hours it is $189 for attendance and the first hour. You hear the number before we set out.
Do you quote before you start?
Every time, emergencies included. If the cause is behind a wall and we honestly cannot price the repair yet, we quote the investigation, tell you what we expect to find, and stop for your call before we go any further.
What payment methods do you take?
Card or bank transfer on completion. Landlords, agents and body corporate managers can be invoiced on account.
Do you charge to quote a renovation?
No. Renovation and rough-in site visits are quoted free, because they need a proper look and a proper set-out, and that is our job to do before you spend anything.
Licensing and warranty
Are you licensed?
Dane and Sam both hold QBCC plumbing and drainage licences and Queensland gas work licences. Toby works under supervision as a third-year apprentice. We are fully insured and we will show you the licences if you ask.
What warranty do I get?
Twelve months on our workmanship, on top of whatever the manufacturer gives on the parts. We register the manufacturer warranty in your name so you are not hunting for a receipt in three years.
Coverage and timing
What areas do you cover?
Burleigh Heads and about twenty-five kilometres around it: Burleigh Waters, Miami, Mermaid Beach, Nobby Beach, Palm Beach, Elanora, Currumbin, Varsity Lakes, Robina, Reedy Creek, Mudgeeraba and Tallebudgera.
How quickly can you get here?
Most standard jobs get a slot inside one to two business days. Emergencies average under ninety minutes inside the service area during business hours.
Do you work on units and body corporate properties?
Regularly. We are used to working out which side of the meter or the riser a fault sits on, and we will put that in writing for the body corporate so nobody has to argue about it.
Do you take on holiday lets and short-stay properties?
Yes, and we schedule around changeovers. Most of our short-stay clients run the annual drain plan, because January is not the month to discover a blocked main line.
Water saving and gas
Do you do gas work?
Yes. Hot water changeovers, cooktop and appliance connections, and gas leak testing, all under a Queensland gas work licence. We will not touch gas we are not licensed for, and we will tell you when that is the case.
Can you help us use less water?
We fit four-star aerators and showerheads as a matter of course, test the meter for silent leaks on every health check, and will tell you plainly when a fixture is old enough that replacing it pays for itself in about two years.
Everything else
Do you clean up afterwards?
Yes, and it is not a favour, it is part of the job. The bench, the cupboard floor and the tiles get wiped down and the old parts leave with us.
Will you tell me if I do not need the work?
We will, and it happens most weeks. A washer instead of a mixer, a re-clear instead of a pipe repair. It costs us the bigger invoice, and it is the reason the phone keeps ringing.
