Most dripping taps are a washer, a worn seat or a cartridge, and most running cisterns are an inlet or an outlet valve. We carry the common parts, so a standard repair is usually finished in the one visit. If a mixer is old enough that the cartridge is no longer made, we will say so and quote a replacement instead of charging you to chase a part that does not exist.

  3. 03 Replace the failed part and reseat where the brass is worn
  4. 04 Reassemble, run it and check for movement or weeping
  5. 05 Wipe the area down and take the old parts away

What it costs

$150 to $980

A single washer or cartridge repair sits at the low end. A full cistern rebuild, or a toilet suite supplied and installed, sits at the top. A second fixture in the same visit is charged at a reduced rate.

Is it worth repairing an old mixer, or should I just replace it?
If the cartridge is still made, repair it. That is usually about a third of the price of a new mixer supplied and fitted, and we will tell you on the spot which one you are looking at.
My toilet runs on and off all night. What causes that?
Almost always the inlet valve or the outlet seal. It is a common repair and a quietly expensive fault, because a slow-running cistern wastes more water than a dripping tap does.
Do you supply the tapware or do I?
Either. If you supply it we check it is WaterMark certified before we fit it, because uncertified tapware voids the warranty on the work and on your insurance.
