We keep an after-hours phone on for the southern Gold Coast and it is answered by one of us. The first thing we do is talk you through isolating the water yourself, because that stops the damage before anyone arrives. Then we tell you the after-hours rate before you agree to it, and we tell you honestly when the job can wait until morning at the standard rate instead.

After hours, answered, not diverted
The after-hours phone is 0491 570 110 and it is answered, not diverted to a message bank. First thing we do is talk you through turning the water off at the meter, then we quote the after-hours rate before we leave the depot. If it can safely wait until morning at the standard rate, we will tell you that instead.

Kitchen drain blocked on a Sunday night. He talked me through where the overflow gully was so it did not come up inside, then came out first thing Monday at the normal rate rather than charging me weekend money for something that could wait.
